New York, New York (October 11, 2019) — SAS visited Travel Leaders Group headquarters to share the news of its recently launched visual identity. – Peter Vlitas Senior Vice President of Airline Relations for Travel Leaders Group

An aircraft livery is the brand image of an airline. It’s intended to communicate the values and concepts of an airline and is typically comprised of a spread of branding such as colors, graphics, and typographical identifiers, which operators apply to their aircraft. The new SAS livery is a modern take on classic Scandinavian design and shows the future of SAS, airline officials said. The market’s most modern and fuel-efficient aircraft, the new Airbus A350 and A320neo, will be the first to feature the new design.

“Our relationship with SAS is an important one for Travel Leaders Group as we continue to provide value for our advsiors and look to build upon the high-quality experience that SAS offers travelers,” said Peter Vlitas Senior Vice President of Airline Relations for Travel Leaders Group. “We were thrilled to hear firsthand about the new livery and our advisors were eager to learn more.”

Advisors from Protravel International and Tzell Travel in attendance took in the beautiful visuals of Scandinavia and the new livery while absorbing key information relevant for their clients. The advisors noted their excitement specifically around SAS sustainable impact initiatives including the following.

SAS is allowing travelers flying with them to voluntarily choose to buy biofuel to help reduce climate-affecting CO2 emissions by up to 80 percent. This is a new non-profit service that aims to pioneer a large-scale and competitive market for biofuel within aviation, in line with SAS’ sustainability strategy. This new ancillary SAS product provides travelers with the option to reduce their climate impact. Travelers can now purchase biofuel when booking a ticket, or at any time before departure.

Additionally, SAS has been working to offset the flight carbon footprint of all tickets booked using a EuroBonus number. All part of an ambitious program by SAS to reduce climate changing emissions, that also includes more energy efficient aircraft and the increased use of biofuels. Airline officials noted that by including carbon offset for its EuroBonus program members, 40 percent of SAS’ passenger-related carbon dioxide emissions will be offset. EuroBonus is the most popular loyalty travel and experiences program in Scandinavia with 5.6 million members.

“From the launch of the new livery design to our biofuel announcement, and our carbon offsetting program, it’s never been a more exciting time for the airline. By implementing these practices, our goal is to not only encourage consumers to travel in a more sustainable way, but also provide them with a best in class travel experience,” says Max Knagge, General Manager North America at SAS.
