“Planning is the best first step in getting you closer to your dream vacation,” said Roger Block, President, Travel Leaders Network. “Whether you’re eager for that solo weekend getaway to relax and unwind, or if you’re looking to reunite and connect with extended family and friends, now is the time to make your travel wishes come true by planning out your future travel with a travel advisor.”

National Plan for Vacation Day takes place during the last Tuesday in January, as a day to encourage Americans to plan their vacation days for the entire year and beyond at the start of the year. While much of the country continues to face rising case numbers and travel restrictions, National Plan for Vacation Day is a chance to do what is safe and productive: plan.

“It’s been a challenging year, and I know we have all missed traveling and exploring our great country,” said U.S. Travel President and CEO Roger Dow. “While many are not yet ready or able to take a vacation, we are encouraging Americans to pull out their calendars on January 26 and get a future trip on the books—even if that just means dreaming about your next getaway.”

A recent Travel Leaders Group survey of nearly 3,000 frequent travelers indicated that 45 percent of respondents have already made plans or are starting to make finite plans for their next vacation, while 54 percent say they are dreaming of when they can travel again. Research also shows that an increasing number of travelers are interested in using a travel advisor for their next trip because of concerns about Covid, cancellations and the ability to speak to connect with someone who is an expert in all things travel.

“While it’s ultimately our clients’ decision to travel, our advisors support their travelers by working closely with relevant industry associations and government agencies to ensure that the most up-to-date information on travel requirements is communicated,” continued Block.

“And when a traveler gets sick or needs to change or cancel their trip, our travel advisors serve as their main point of contact for clients to handle all arrangements with airlines, tour operators, hotels and ground transportation companies.”

Travel Leaders Network continues to urge Americans to adhere to healthy travel practices and responsible travel—whether one is planning a trip in the short term or for later this year. Their travel advisors offer a wealth of resources and guidance to encourage safe and healthy travel, which includes wearing a mask, frequent hand washing, maintaining physical distance when possible and staying home if feeling sick.
