NATIONAL HARBOR, Md., (June 11, 2019) — Travel Leaders Network (www.travelleaders.com) recently bestowed its highest annual honor – the Golden Legacy Award – on Fargo-based Travel Leaders Associate Cindy Tyo at its 2019 EDGE Annual Conference taking place at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, through June 10. The Golden Legacy Award honors Travel Leaders Associates whose lifetime achievements best exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit and highest quality standards of the franchise system.
To be considered for the Golden Legacy award, Tyo, who is owner of the Travel Leaders locations in Fargo, North Dakota, and Detroit Lakes and Moorhead, Minnesota, first had to earn Travel Leaders’ “Agency of Excellence” award. Only 25 franchisees nationally were honored with that distinction in 2019. “Agency of Excellence” award recipients are scored in several categories that reflect business growth, utilization of marketing programs to effectively reach local consumers, participation in key training programs to enhance service to their clients, as well as in local and national business networking meetings, and their overall promotion of the Travel Leaders brand.

Tyo, was also honored in 2016 with the prestigious Travel Leaders “Associate of the Year” award, which is bestowed upon the Travel Leaders Associate who most epitomizes excellence in service to clients and effectively represents the Travel Leaders brand over the course of the year.

Under Tyo’s leadership, the agency, known as “Travel Travel,” also raised awareness of its annual Corporate Management Expo, which is now in its seventh year. They invite current accounts and prospects to a series of seminars to learn more on business travel topics, such as duty of care and enhancements to travel policies, as well as more about the services the agency offers, including its “Safe to Go Program,” which monitors weather conditions tracked against a client’s itinerary to improve efficiency for rerouting clients to minimize the impact of weather delays.
Tyo, who was raised in Argyle, Minnesota and moved to the Fargo/Moorhead area right after high school, understands the needs of local travelers. She originally planned to build a career in the medical field, however, after working in a hotel and travel agency in the area, she realized by age 19 that her passion was travel. Beginning in the mid-1980s, Tyo worked as a travel agency manager in Crookston, Minnesota, and in Fargo/Moorhead. She then spent several years in Los Angeles, California, before returning to Fargo – first to manage her current agency, then becoming the agency’s owner in 2003.
In addition to Tyo being honored with numerous awards from Travel Leaders through the years, she also has been recognized by various travel industry suppliers, such as Princess Cruises, Travel Guard and Viking River Cruises. Her agencies are also top producers for Barcelo Hotels & Resorts, Funjet Vacations, and RIU Hotels & Resorts, among others. She is also very supportive of the local communities where her agencies are based, including supporting local golf tournaments such as the Roger Maris Celebrity Tournament and the Sunshine Kids Charity Golf Tournament.
